Red-billed Tropicbird, Magnificent Frigatebird, Great Frigatebird

The Red-billed Tropicbird, phaethon aethereus, named for the mythical figure Phaeton, also known as Icarus. The silver bird masterfully navigates the expanse between the heavens and the sea as Icarus did aboard his chariot in myth. However, trouble abounds. The kleptoparasitic frigatebird pirates impede the flight of the tropicbird, beginning a high-speed chase over the waters of the Galápagos.  The daring of Icarus caused his chariot to catch on fire and he plunged to his doom. Will Captain Icarus escape the fate of his namesake and make it back to his cliffs unharmed?
