Blue-footed Booby, Sula nebouxii. The name ‘booby’ comes from the Spanish word ‘bobo’, meaning ‘fool’ or ‘dunce’, referring to the clumsiness of boobies on land. In the air, however, the Blue-footed Booby is a strong and agile flier, foraging by plunge-diving into water, often from great heights. Blue-footed Boobies are social species, and will often forage in groups of up to 200 birds.
